James R. Beeghley, Ed.D.
I am an educational technologist, a blogger and expert in using technology to teach history with a particular interest in the American Civil War. I have spent eleven years as a technology coordinator, spent five years supporting educational technology for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and have been an adjunct professor in the Graduate Education departments for Waynesburg University and Wilkes University since 2005.
My bachelor’s degree is in Computer Science from California University of Pennsylvania, along with a Master’s degree in Educational Technology from Waynesburg University and in 2008, I completed my doctoral degree in Instructional Technology at Duquesne University where I examined how Pennsylvania teachers are using technology to teach the American Civil War.
I am the author of the Teaching the Civil War with Technology Blog. I have presented locally and nationally on numerous topics including technology planning, copyright, network security, technology audits, and most recently uses of technology to teach the Civil War. It is my passion to help teachers bring history to life with 21st century tools.
On a personal note, I reside in Mechanicsburg, Pa with my wife Kim and our four children.
